About

Vera was born in Hong Kong.  Her mother tongue is Cantonese and also speaks Mandarin.  She was trained as a registered nurse in Hong Kong and as a midwife in United Kingdom.   She was trained as a Diabetes Nurse Educator in Westmead Hospital and became a Credentialled Diabetes Educator in 1998.

Vera has been working as a Clinical Nurse Consultant in Blacktown / Mt Druitt Diabetes Service since 2000.  She mainly works in Outpatients setting in the Diabetes Education Centre and the Diabetes in Pregnancy Clinic.

Vera formed the first Blacktown/ Mt Druitt Chinese Diabetes Support Group together with the BMDH Multicultural Health worker and co-ordinated the group program for 10 years. She has presented in seminars, Community Television and local Chinese Radio Channels. She had also presented in National conferences on the Chinese Support Group and Postnatal Education Session.
